The NAU Centennial Forest is NAU's research, teaching, and demonstration
forest - a cooperative venture between Northern Arizona University and the
Arizona State Land Department.
In 1959, the Arizona State Land Department designated 4,000 acres of forest
land as an "outdoor laboratory" for the School of Forestry at Arizona State
College in Flagstaff (now Northern Arizona University). The research and
education programs initiated by the designation helped establish the school as
one of the top rated forestry institutions in the country.
Now, a half-century later, the two organizations have come together once
again to establish a new national model for the 21st century.
CF Summer Camps
Join us this summer for adventure and fun at the Centennial Forest
Environmental Education Programs. We offer unique opportunities for youth to get
outside and experience the wonder and beauty of the forest through hiking,
forest discovery, and nature-based art and games. Our programs, for campers aged
9-16, are designed to build on the knowledge campers gain each year by offering
a variety of experiences for them to “grow into”. Visit the Environmental Education
Programs section to learn more or to register for summer camp.
