Wood science and utilization

New Wood Technologies on the Rise

With increased pressure on U.S. timber supplies due to environmental constraints, there is increased interest in developing new technologies and methods to utilize more of the wood that is being harvested.

Research opportunities have included studies of lesser-utilized wood species as well as development of techniques to increase yield of wood products. Moreover, background research of the Arizona forest-products industry has been conducted to provide information on the utilization of wood products.
