Integrated Bachelors of Science - Masters of Forestry
Program
The objective of the integrated program is to encourage and facilitate faster completion of the Master of Forestry graduate degree by outstanding and highly motivated students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Forestry. The integrated program is designed to use 6 hours of 400-level courses from the Bachelors degree program to meet part of the elective requirement of the Master of Forestry. The integration of the Bachelors of Science in Forestry with the Master of Forestry will enable outstanding undergraduate forestry majors to complete both a Bachelors degree and a professional Masters degree in five years.
The Master of Forestry prepares students for a career in forest management, in contrast to a career in research. It is appropriate for students who desire advanced training in forestry, but not a research focus. The program of study involves a minimum of 30 semester hours of coursework plus 3 hours of credit for the professional paper which is designed by the student in consultation with the student's major professor. The student's program of study includes 9 hours of required courses, and additional 8-9 hours of core courses in Forestry, and 15-16 hours of elective courses tailored to the student's personal interests.
