    Hardware Setup

  1. Lay the scanner down its side so the power button is facing you and is on the bottom right side of the face plate.
  2. Remove the individual scanner adpater and replace with bulk adpater.

  3. Pull back on the spring loaded plate and place your slides all in landscape orientation. Place the slide in so that if your were reading the slide, the text would be backwards.
  4. You may pull the plate back all the way to the end where there is a notch that the plate will stay while you load up to 50 slides.
  5. Once you have successfully scanned all of your photos they will automatically be placed in the post scan area.
    Software Setup

  1. Open Nikon Scan 4.0
  2. In the Tool Palette Window Open the "Digital ICE4 Advanced" Tab.
  3. Check "Enable Digital Ice"
  4. Select "Scanner" | "Slide Reader"
  5. Type the number of slides you have inserted the into the bulk reader.
    Note: The scanner can only read up to 50 slides per batch.
  6. Click "Scan".
  7. Click "OK" when you see the Batch Scan. window.
  8. The next window gives you options for saving your photos.
    • Prefix will be text the begins each file name.
    • Suffix is text that will end each file name. "Number of Digits" slider allows you to change the amount of numbers in the file name. For example, if you have only 80 pictures you will only need two digits. If you have a thousand pictures to scan, you will be four digits.
    • Directory states where you would like to save the pictures.
    • Compression level will be essentially the size of a file. If you need a large reproduction, like a poster, then you may want to change it to high or excellent qaulity. If you need to save space, select high or good compression.

  9. Click "OK".
